- The Indian Foreign Service (IFS) is the diplomatic service and a central civil service of the Government of India under the Ministry of External Affairs.
About IFS
- The overall IFS salary is around 60,000 per month including all the benefits and allowances. But this salary differs based on the candidates posting, that is if the selected candidate got his/her posting in foreign countries then he/she may receive a salary of 2.40 lakhs under the special foreign allowance.
- Once a candidate clears the UPSC Civil Service Exam based on their rankings for which the written exam (UPSC Mains Exam) and Interview marks are taken into account, the candidate is allocated to a specific service like Indian Foreign Service (IFS).
- Age Limit: The candidates must have attained 21 years of age and be less than 32 years of age as of 1st August 2022 i.e The candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1990 and not later than 1st August, 2001. *Note: The age limit is as per the 2022 UPSC notification.
